Barely-there bangs feel like an oxymoron, but Ariana Grande’s new take on the trend is proof: Cutting bangs don’t have to be as much of a statement as you’d think. The polarizing style is synonymous with a big change, but Grande’s little wisps are anything but.

On July 2, Grande posted a photo dump on Instagram, sharing everything from selfies to behind-the-scenes peeks of her music videos and scenic photos of the outdoors. In the first photo of the slideshow, the 31-year-old’s mirror selfie debuts her teeny tiny bangs that put a soft twist on the micro-bang trend.

The “Boy Is Mine” singer has kept her bronde hair throughout the summer, and in recent photos and videos, has worn it tied up into a half-up or ponytail. In the new photos, Grande is wearing her hair in a low pony with her new wispy bangs pushed to the side. Although her bangs rest on top of her eyebrows, like typical bangs do, the few thin strands of hair make the cut feel not as obvious, and therefore, not as big as a statement.

Also apparent was Grande’s baby pink milky manicure, which we’re considering as her co-sign of the simple manicure trend. In the photos she wears a casual grey crewneck and headphones for a comfy outfit and her makeup is minimal. Grande opted for a casual (for her at least) black eyeliner with a pop of pink lipstick.

In another photo, Grande's bangs are swept back into a half-updo with the rest of her strands in ringlet curls. Of course, the multi-hyphenate is bound to look stunning in whatever she wears, but her new bangs are a refreshingly quirky and chic take on the bang trend that makes the typically high-maintenance hairstyle a summer reality. We're adding her baby bangs to our summer mood board, stat.
