While getting a bob can be a scary thing to process for yourself (you really can’t go back, especially when you’ve been growing your hair out for a hot minute), it’s always a delight to see someone else take the plunge. Especially when that person is Keke Palmer.
On January 7, the 31-year-old showed off a new hairstyle to promote her new movie, One of Them Days. This time around, she went with the sleekest of looks: a true bob that hit right at her jawline.

The hair was the work of Kira Dior, one of Palmer’s go-to glam team members and a wizard with wigs and extensions. Styled straight and parted right down the middle, it featured only the tiniest bit of face framing—a one-length wonder otherwise. Further mixing things up from the black Aaliyah-inspired long layers and bangs she was rocking on New Year’s Eve, the TV personality chose a deep copper shade to compliment the cut.
“A job & a bob LOVE to see keke coming,” commented a fan on Palmer’s Instagram post showcasing the hairstyle. And it’s true; a booked schedule and major chop suit her well.
The rest of the look, made possible by makeup artist Kenya Alexis and stylist Zoe Costello, was pure Y2K music video fun. Costello dressed her client in a pink silk Vivienne Westwood corset embroidered with roses and a fur coat, which she wore off her shoulders.

Her full beat was emphasized by lavender eyeshadow and major lashes, while her lips were lined with a pretty brown pencil (is there a touch of shimmer there?) and finished off with a pinky-purple gloss. The glam extended even further, too. Palmer’s chest and shoulders were dusted with a shimmery substance—an oil, perhaps?—that played off of her silver necklace.
