The Inspiration
Sunscreen is hard to get right. Finding the perfect formula that’s easily bendable, hydrating, and offers the right amount of SPF is key, and Nautirum’s original Dew-Glow formula checks off all these boxes. The original moisturizer’s cult-following is why “it only made sense to offer even more options with a tinted version,” per the brand’s founder, Susan Yara.
Yara and her team wanted to offer a product with all the sun protection and glow of the original formula, plus a sheer, easy to wear tint. The sunscreen comes in three shades: Deep, Medium, and Light. "We formulated this to be sheer and easy to use, so while it won’t replace your foundation, it will make your skin look slightly filtered and give it a warmer tone," shared Yara.
"We’re a skincare brand, not a cosmetic brand, so we went for easy-to-blend, flexible shades that can enhance your skin tone." She adds that you can wear the moisturizer alone, or under foundation for a glowy base.
The Formula
The Dew-Glow Tinted Moisturizer SPF 50+ is both a chemical and physical sunscreen, and won’t leave a white cast on any skin tone. Each shade can be worn as-is, or you can mix and match for your own custom shade.
The formula goes beyond just offering SPF protection and a glowy your skin-but-better finish. Dew-Glow includes ingredients like niacinamide and 3-0 Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (a stable form of vitamin C) to help even the complexion over time and to protect against pollutants and balance oil production. Dr. Mark Strom, MD, FAAD, who works on Naturium’s advisory board, also notes that the iron oxides used to create the tint in the formula actually help to reduce hyperpigmentation from UV exposure.
To get the maximum benefits of the SPF, the brand recommends applying 1/4 of a teaspoon of the product onto the skin 15 minutes before sun exposure. Not sure what 1/4 of a teaspoon looks like? You can measure this using the divot in the packaging's cap, another ingenious fact about the Dew-Glow.
