Summer Fashion Try-On Haul

Summer Fashion Try-On Haul

Alright, folks! This one’s a doozie, so grab another cup of coffee and get ready to scroll. I’ve got a new summer fashion try-on haul for you today, with styles from Evereve, Nordstrom, Saks, LOFT, Quince, and Gap Factory.

1

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

As usual, I will provide measurements and fabric content on each item when I can find it, and I’ll share whether I plan to keep it or not. Just remember, even when I decide not to keep something, it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth checking out. I just may not need it, or it may not work for my body type or lifestyle.

Summer Styles from Evereve

I’ll start off this week with a few leftover pieces from my Evereve dressing room try-ons last week. I ran out of time and didn’t include these.

AG Stripe Dress

at Evereve (S) // flip flops (8) // earrings

1

DETAILS:

  • Length from Shoulder to Hem: 44 1/2″
  • Material: 96% Cotton, 4% Spandex/Elastane Knit
  • Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Dry Flat

I bypassed this dress several times because I assumed I wouldn’t like the body-con fit, but it’s actually quite forgiving. Maybe it’s the way the stripes end up going at more of a diagonal on the skirt and through the hip area, where my body is the widest.

At any rate, I ended up bringing this dress home with me! I kept the tags on because I’m waiting to be sure I actually end up wearing it, but I think it’s super cute. The fabric is lightweight and very soft, and the quality seems quite good. I tried the medium on first, and it was too big, so I went back and got the small, so I’d say it’s true to size, or size down if in between.

EVER Denim Midi Skirt

at Evereve (29) // Sarina V Neck Tank (S) // flip flops (8)

1

DETAILS:

  • Skirt Length: 28 3/4″
  • Material: 93% Cotton, 6% Elasterell-P, 1% Spandex Denim
  • Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low

This skirt has a lot of potential. The fabric is soft and comfortable, and I love the slim silhouette. The utility-inspired patch pockets and button-front design are nice details, and it’s the perfect midi length on me. It hits just below the widest part of my calf, and with the top front-tucked, this outfit still follows the Rule of Thirds.

I feel like this skirt is generally flattering, and I like it, but I have that Rails denim midi skirt in a more A-line style that I never reach for. I also purchased the KUT from the Kloth Bristol Utility Skirt, featured in last week’s try-on haul. I decided on that one over this because the shorter length seems more casual, and I’m hoping I reach for it more than the Rails.

1 1

VERDICT: All that to say, I left this skirt in the store, but I think it’s a good one. If you like it, I would definitely give it a try!

Faherty Stretch Terry Shorts

at Evereve (29) // Splendid Faye (M) // flip flops (8)

1

DETAILS:

  • Front Rise: 11 3/4″
  • Inseam Length: 4 1/2″
  • Material: 83% Cotton, 16% Polyester, 1% Elastane Knit
  • Care: Machine Wash, Tumble Dry Low

These shorts are somewhat magical. They’re made of a super soft knit fabric with lots of stretch, but they still have a good structure and maintain their shape. The 4 1/2″ inseam is my favorite length, and I love the washed black color, too.

1 1

VERDICT: Definitely keeping these. I don’t have any black shorts currently in my closet, and I love the fit and feel.

Mcclane Muscle Top

at Evereve (S) // PAIGE Anessa Utility // Sam Edelman sandals

1

DETAILS:

  • Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22 1/2″
  • Material: 100% Rayon
  • Care: Machine Wash, Wash Cold, Dry Flat

I love a floral grounded on black, and this subtle dot print sort of reads as a floral. I tried it on in-store with that EVER Denim Midi Skirt, but I thought the tan/olive/ivory tones would look really nice paired with ecru jeans, as well as black or olive pants.

I guess it works with these ecru jeans, but I’m not crazy about the high contrast between the dark top and light pants. I’d like to see it with olive or khaki.

1

Also, It has a rather boxy shape, so it really needs a front tuck, but it doesn’t have the best drape. For a rayon fabric, it’s a little stiffer than I expected when I got home and started playing around with it.

Here it is with black black linen pants and flip flops. I like it a lot better with the black pants, for more of a monochromatic outfit, but I would want to be able to wear it with more of my pant and jeans, so I’m conflicted about whether or not to keep it.

1

VERDICT: I’m still debating on this one. I’ve got the receipt, if I want to take it back before the return window expires, but I might end up grabbing it and wearing it if I have the right occasion.

Denim & Linen Pants for Summer

Let’s stick with the linen pants for a minute. I actually have three pairs to share with you!

KUT from the Kloth Topaz High Waist Crop Wide Leg Linen Blend Pants in Black

at Nordstrom (6) // at Zappos (6) // The Reset Tank (S) // Birks (39)

1

DETAILS:

  • 26″ inseam; 22 1/2″ leg opening; 12 1/2″ front rise (size 8)
  • 50% linen, 48% rayon, 2% spandex
  • Machine wash, line dry

If you’re looking for a pair of breezy linen wide leg crop pants, these are pretty much perfection. They fit very much like the KUT from the Kloth Meg that we all know and love, fitted through the hips and relaxed through the thighs, with a moderate 22 1/2″ leg opening. The 26″ inseam is cropped on me, which is perfect for more casual summer looks.

I also appreciate the hook and eye closure, rather than an elastic waist. I feel like it looks more refined, plus it is more flattering on a fluffy midsection. These pants also come in white, olive, and khaki.

I wanted to play around with them a bit, so I tried them with another linen piece, this white boxy linen top by Madewell. (More on that below.) I think this works, but the black and white creates a rather stark contrast. It needs some accessories to pull it together.

1

Next, I tried these pants with the Evereve James Pullover, and I like them with a sweater on top because knits cling to my curves create a pleasing silhouette.

I feel like this particular sweater is slightly too long with the cropped pants, but because the tie die print has the darkest color on the bottom, it blends in with the dark pants, and that white stripe is where the eye lands, making that more or less the “waist” of the outfit. I’m not sure I’m explaining it well, but it sort of works.

1

Olive is usually a good pairing with black, so I pulled out my bobi utility tee, and I like this a lot too. Both the color and the style of the top seem to work well with the black linen wide leg pants.

The top has a nice drape, and because it’s more of a knit than a woven fabric, it’s a bit clingy and highlights my waist in a way that the Madewell boxy linen top and Mcclane muscle top do not.

1

Here’s a side-by-side to compare the tops. They all work, but I feel like the bobi utility tee creates the most pleasing silhouette of the three.

1

Finally, I decided to try an all black outfit with the Evereve Sarina V Neck Tank. This top is made of a stretchy ribbed knit, so it offsets the more voluminous bottoms in a very nice way.

1

In fact, I ended up wearing this outfit out to dinner last night. Here’s the final look, with a belt and bag. I also threw the Evereve Camp Jacket on top in case it got chilly, which it did. I was glad I had it.

1 1

Evereve Sarina V Neck Tank (S) // Evereve Camp Jacket (S) // KUT from the Kloth Topaz Linen Pants (6) // STAUD Dante Leather Flip Flops (38) // Rebecca Minkoff Edie Raffia Crossbody // similar FRAME belt (M) // raffia hoops // Jenny Bird Ola Bangle // Madewell necklace set

VERDICT: I guess it’s obvious that I’m keeping these pants!

Gap Factory Linen-Blend Straight Pull-On Pants

at Gap Factory (S) // linen shirt (S) // Birks (39)

1

DETAILS:

  • Mid rise.
  • Easy through the hip and thigh.
  • Straight leg.
  • Inseam: 27″
  • 55% Flax (Linen), 45% Rayon

These pants are similar to the KUT from the Kloth Topaz, but they have an elastic waist and a straighter fit. They’re also an inch longer, so more of an ankle length than a crop.

I like the straighter fit, but I’m not a huge fan of the elastic waistband. Fortunately, there is no drawstring to create extra bulk. They actually have a hook and bar closure, but the waistband isn’t flat, like the Topaz. Anyway! It’s a nice compromise, and allows for some extra give in the waist.

These pants seem slightly more casual to me than the ones above, but the linen doesn’t feel as soft, which I assume is due to the difference in quality. Still, these are a solid choice if you’re looking for linen cropped pants. They also come in tan and rust, and there are a few tall sizes available.

1 1

VERDICT: I don’t need both pairs of black linen pants, but I might consider the tan color. It could be nice to have, and the price is so good it’s hard to pass up!

KUT Meg High Waist Wide Leg Linen Blend Pants in Punch

at Nordstrom (6) // Splendid Faye (M) // flip flops (8)

1

DETAILS:

  • 30 1/2″ inseam; 23″ leg opening; 12″ front rise; 14″ back rise (size 8)
  • 50% linen, 48% rayon, 2% spandex
  • Hand wash, line dry

I can’t remember if I’ve shown these pants before or not. I think I showed them in Lilac color (no longer available) earlier in the season, but those were the size 8. When I heard how much they stretch out by a member of our JLS Insiders Facebook Group, I returned them and ordered this Punch color in the 6.

As you can see, they’re a little snug in the rear, but I can attest, they do stretch out some with wear. I like the floor-grazing style, and this color is so fun for summer. I can see this outfit topped off with a denim jacket for a casual girls lunch out type of look, or I can wear it to church.

1 1

VERDICT: Keeping these! I love the bright pink for summer.

LOFT Mid Rise Boot Jean In White

on sale at LOFT (29) // Evereve Sarina V Neck Tank (S) // Tory Burch wedges

1

DETAILS:

  • 10 1/2″ Rise; 31 1/2″ Inseam
  • relaxed up top, easing into an authentic boot cut
  • 98% Cotton, 2% Elastane
  • Machine Washable

These jeans are currently $44.93, down from $89.95, and they’re a nice option for a classic bootcut jean in a crisp white denim. The fabric is thick and not see-through, and the rear pocket placement is pretty good. They’re just a little on the large side, but that’s not always a bad thing, especially with white denim.

1 1

VERDICT: I don’t need these, as I have plenty of white jeans that I love, and I’m not really wearing heels right now. (I managed to stand in these for these pictures, but they’re too high for me to wear out and about just yet.) All that to say, these are a good option for a great pice, if they’re something you need in your summer wardrobe.

MOTHER The Rider Mid Rise Ankle Jeans (Local Charm)

at Nordstrom (29) // Michael Stars shirt (S) // VEJA Esplar (39) // Sam Edelman sandal (8)

1

DETAILS:

  • 28″ inseam; 15″ leg opening; 10 1/2″ front rise (size 29)
  • 99% cotton, 1% elastane
  • Machine wash, tumble dry
  • Made in the USA of imported fabrics

I’ve been on a search for straight ankle jeans that aren’t quite as slim-fitting as the MOTHER Dazzler that I wear so much, and I was hoping this MOTHER Rider would fit the bill.

For comparison’s sake, the Dazzler has the following measurements: 28 1/2″ inseam, 14″ leg opening; 10 1/2″ front rise (size 29).

1 1

MOTHER Dazzler (29) // MOTHER Rider (29)

I don’t know if it’s the wash or what, but I don’t really care for that wider leg opening on me, and while the rises are the same measurement, the Rider felt lower. Also, it felt very tight. It could be that my Dazzlers are stretched out from wear, but it seems like the Rider might run small.

I was still debating playing around with them some more, but then I turned around and caught a view of the rear pocket placement. Yikes. They are set waaaaay too low. I either need to try a size up, or these jeans aren’t made for me.

1 1

VERDICT: I’m returning these, for now. I don’t really need more blue jeans for summer. I’ll try more straight ankle jeans this fall.

FRAME Le Easy Flare Jeans

on sale at Nordstrom (29) // at FRAME (29) // Madewell linen top (S) // Kork-Ease sandals (8)

1

DETAILS:

  • 31″ inseam; 24″ leg opening; 12 1/2″ front rise (size 32)
  • 90% cotton, 6% elastomultiester, 4% elastane
  • Machine wash, dry flat

I’ve had these jeans for a while, but I want to give them a spot in this post because they’re on sale, for one thing. But also, they’re such a great summery jean, and I don’t want you to miss them! They’re super soft and stretchy, and they have a slightly relaxed fit through the thighs with a generous flared hem.

1

Stuart Weitzman Oasis Wedge Sandals (8)

These jeans are meant to be a floor-grazing style, so I don’t love them with the platform sandals in the first picture. They look better with a low heel or even a flat. I’ve worn them with sneakers, as well as flat sandals and low wedge heels.

1 1

Dolce Vita Selda Sandals (7.5) // VEJA Esplar (39)

VERDICT: These have been in my closet for a while, and they’re definitely keepers.

Quince Ultra-Stretch Ponte Straight Leg Pant in 30″

at Quince (M) // Quince scoop neck tee (M) // Vince Pia (8)

1

I tried these in the 28″ inseam a few weeks ago, and you all loved them, but I wasn’t sure I liked the length. By way of reminder, here they are…

1 1

Quince ponte pants, 28″ inseam // Quince scoop neck tee (S)

(This is also the same Quince scoop neck tee I’m wearing above, but in the size small. I also re-ordered the tee in the medium because I didn’t like how tight the small fit on me.)

The pants are intended to be full-length, not ankle-length, so I re-ordered them in the 30″ inseam. For the record, these come in 26″, 28″, 30″, and 32″ inseams!

1

I do like the longer length on me, but they seem to taper at the ankle and almost bunch on top of the foot. I wish I’d tried them with sneakers, but I was getting tired. I do like how they look with the heels.

VERDICT: I need to play around with these a bit more. They’re good pants, and I can see how they’d be highly versatile and great for travel. I just don’t wear black ponte pants that often, and something about these doesn’t quite excite me. Stay tuned, I’ll keep you posted!

Summer Tops & Jackets from Nordstrom & Saks

Okay, this is getting really long, so I’m going to quickly run through these tops and jackets!

Caslon Cotton Gauze Top

at Nordstrom (M) // Frame Le Easy Flare Jeans (29) // Stuart Weitzman Oasis wedges (8)

1

DETAILS:

  • 22″ center front length; 24″ back length (size Medium)
  • Three-quarter sleeves
  • 100% cotton
  • Machine wash, line dry

This boho style top is kind of fun, and I’m always drawn to them, but they don’t do much for me. And this one is extremely long. Maybe if you’re a lot taller than my 5’5″, it would work better for you.

1 1

VERDICT: Returned this one.

Joe’s Jeans Cameron Sleeveless Crochet Top

at Saks (M) // Gap Factory linen pants (S) // Birks (39)

1

DETAILS:

  • About 20″ from shoulder to hem
  • 35% cotton/35% lyocell/30% linen
  • Hand wash

I ordered this sweater tank during the last Saks sale, and while I like it, I don’t love it. I think it’s something about the way the arms are cut; they create a straight vertical line, and the entire look is very straight and boxy. It’s also a very warm shade of ivory.

I do like the textured knit striped pattern with the lettuce hem trimming, and crochet tops are definitely trending right now, so it would be a nice option for someone. It’s just not quite hitting all the right notes for me.

1 1

VERDICT: I returned this.

Liverpool Los Angeles Floral Flutter Sleeve Cotton Top

at Nordstrom (S) // FRAME Le Easy Flare Jeans (29) // Stuart Weitzman Oasis (8)

1

DETAILS:

  • 25″ length
  • Scoop neck
  • Short sleeves
  • 98% cotton, 2% spandex
  • Machine wash, dry flat

Well, either boho is trending, or I’m really drawn to this aesthetic right now! This top is pretty, but it’s a little cutesy for me, or something.

1 1

I’m not sure if it’s the flutter sleeves or the floral print, but while I like it, I don’t think it’s for me. I think it would be nice for someone out there, though.

1

VERDICT: I returned this. I feel more like myself in more tailored styles, and fortunately I’ve found some other good options lately, like the Madewell boxy linen shirt (below) and the Splendid St. Tropez linen blend top from last week’s Try-On Haul.

Madewell Boxy Cap Sleeve Linen Button-Up Shirt

at Nordstrom (S) // FRAME Le Easy Flare Jeans (29) // Kork Ease Sandals (8) // Stuart Weitzman Oasis (8)

1

DETAILS:

  • 21″ length (size Small)
  • 100% linen
  • Machine wash, tumble dry

I didn’t have super high hopes for this top, but I wanted to try it, and I’m glad I did! This just goes to show, sometimes you have to try things on. I was afraid it would be way too short and boxy, but I like it a lot.

It’s definitely thin, but not so much so that I feel like I need a tank under it, and while it’s short, it’s fine with high rise jeans, like these FRAME Le Easy Flare Jeans. These jeans are on sale right now, by the way!

This top is slightly longer in the back than the front, and I like the seaming details. It definitely exudes the more polished vibe that I’m leaning into these days.

1 1

VERDICT: Keeping! In fact, the day I did these try-ons, I ended up throwing on this top and jeans to go to the mall with my daughter.

Open Stitch Cardigan

at Nordstrom (S) // Splendid Faye Tee (M) // KUT Meg Cuff (6) // Sam Edelman Bambi

1

I think I’ve shown this sweater before, but I can’t remember for sure, so I’ll add this picture in here real quick. I like the open stitch design, and it also comes in black.

Here’s how it looks styled into more of a monochromatic look with the PAGE Anessa in Tonal Ecru. I don’t have any dresses that seem quite right with it, but I do think it could be handy to have to top off dresses in the summertime.

1 1 1

VERDICT: Keeping, for now. I’m not sure how much I’ll wear it, but I think it will come in handy.

Nordstrom Sleeveless V-Neck Cotton T-Shirt

at Nordstrom (S) // KUT Kloth Meg Linen (29) // flip flops (8)

1

DETAILS:

  • 100% pima cotton
  • Machine wash, tumble dry

This white t-shirt caught my eye, and I ordered it along with a bunch of other tops and tees last week. The fabric is kind of stiff, but I do like the cut of the sleeves. There’s no length measurement online, but I’m guessing it’s 24″ or 25″ long.

It has a nice relaxed fit, and it front tucks okay. I didn’t take time to steam it before I took these pictures, so don’t mind those wrinkles. It’s 100% cotton, so I’m sure it will wrinkle some, but it looks much better now that it’s been steamed.

1

VERDICT: I’m undecided on this. I don’t really need another white v-neck tee in my life, but it is different than the ones I have, and it might come in handy this summer. I’ll hold onto it for a while and see if I reach for it.

Tommy Bahama Two Palms Linen Raw Edge Jacket in White

at Nordstrom (S) // KUT Meg Linen (6) // Splendid Faye (M) // flip flops (8)

1

I have this jacket in the black, and I decided to grab the white when it went on sale a few weeks ago. (It also comes in olive, navy, and a nice cool beige.) I like it a lot, but I’m just not sure how much I’ll wear it. I was struggling to style it with an outfit from my closet for this try-on haul.

I don’t know that I love the white jacket on top of the white top, but then again, why not? I guess it works. It’s just sleek and simple, which is kind of my thing.

1

VERDICT: Keeping for now, I need to see what else I might want to wear with it.

Two Random Pairs of Sandals (On Sale!)

Okay, finally! Two random pairs of sandals that are already top sellers from the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale. Mine finally came in, so I want to show them to you.

Stuart Weitzman Oasis Wedge Sandals in Adobe

25% off at Nordstrom and Zappos (8) // Tommy Bahama Clara (S)

1

DETAILS per Stuart Weitzman:

  • 2″ heel
  • Materials: Patent leather; Leather insole; Leather outsole
  • Made in Spain

These shoes were THE top seller last month, and that was before I even showed a picture wearing them. They’re on sale, and such a good price for Stuart Weitzman. I’ve always said he is my favorite shoe designer for the perfect marriage of style, comfort, and quality… Okay, maybe marriage isn’t the best analogy here, haha! But you get the idea.

They are as beautiful and as comfortable as I was hoping they would be, and they’re also very walkable, even with my recovering foot/ankle injury. I love the asymmetrical traps and the cork wrapped wedge heel. They run true to size for Stuart Weitzman. I am almost always a size 8 in his shoes, and that’s what I’m wearing here.

1

VERDICT: Keeping these! They look as good with jeans as they do with dresses. (I’m wearing them above with the FRAME Le Easy Flares.)

Sam Edelman Deacon Raffia Sandals

30% off at Nordstrom (8)

1

DETAILS:

  • 1″ heel
  • Textile upper/synthetic lining/rubber sole

I love these raffia slides with the 1″ block heel. I think the rectangular buckle with beaded detail is such a nice mixture of tailored and feminine. In fact, I like them so much, I ordered both colors. I wanted to see them both in person before I decided which pair to keep.

1 1

in Bleached Beechwood // in Cuoio

I was thrilled when they came in to find that they have a padded footbed, as well as padding under the strap. They are way more comfortable than they may appear. Bonus, they don’t bother my foot and ankle to walk in them, so I am definitely excited about this footwear find!

They run true to size, or you may want to size up if in between. The 8 fits me perfectly, and I often size down half in slides.

1

VERDICT: Keeping! I just have to decide which color I will wear more.

Okay, I had some activewear to show you, but I think I’ll wait till next week. This post is long enough. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
